Important info

The boring bit! This informaiton is for potential kitten owners. Please take the time to read this if you think you may be interested in a Lunastar kitten.

~Thank you~

An Indoor Cat is a Safer Cat

Please do not enquire about a kitten if you intend to let it roam outdoors.

Ragdolls have a gentle nature and are not streetwise as they are unlikely to defend themselves against more agressive cats, they would be subject to disease and a target for thieves because they warm up quickly to strangers. Roads are one of the greatest dangers to them. It's not safe for them outdoors unless in a purpose built run or supervised in the garden on a cat harness/lead. I wouldn't recommend letting Radolls unsupervised in the garden even if it is cat proof as many plants are toxic to cats and if eaten could be fatal!

Kitten Wellfare

As a lover of cats and through a desire to ensure health and happiness throughout our kitten’s lives, please don't be offended if I ask some details about yourself and the kind of home you can offer a kitten.

As I hope you will understand that after witnessing their births and watching them grow and change for over 3 months they become much loved and we just want to find them loving homes, so It's not a case of first come first sevred, but finding the right home for the right kitten.

If you feel you can offer a Lunastar kitten the purrfect forever home then we are waiting to hear from you!

Kitten Information

First and foremost we aim to breed strong and healthy kittens and to maintain the sweet temperament and look of the Ragdoll.

A perfectly marked kitten will not make a better pet although we may occasionally have kittens with show potential available.

We believe Ragdolls are the temperament and so our kittens are handled everyday from birth to ensure friendly and loveable babies.

Kittens are born and raised in our home. Once old enough they also have occasional supervised access to the run. They are handled everyday from birth and we try our best to get them used to everyday sounds in the home (our kittens are not used to small children or dogs at present). Ragdolls need company and could become depressed if isolated for long periods, so please do not enquire about kittens if you do not have the time for them.

Our cats and their kittens are very precious to us and so when buying a Lunastar kitten, you have the piece of mind that if needed we will offer any help or advice that we can during your kitten's life. It is lovely to hear from new owners from time to time and photos are always gratefully received. We never stop caring about the kittens we've bred once they've left us and we also send them a happy 1st birthday card!

Kitten visits & reserving kittens

Kitten visits can take place when the kittens have had their 1st vaccination at 10 weeks old. They are ready to go to new homes from 14 weeks old but can be reserved at 10 weeks with a non returnable deposit of £50. Please note we will not reserve kittens by phone or email, reservations can takes place after viewing the kittens. We have the right to refuse a sale to anyone who we do not feel comfortable with.

When viewing kittens we ask that you don't view any other kittens from another breeder on the same day because of the risk of cross infection.

We may ask while the kittens are young that you use hand sanitizer before handling them to protect them from germs, we follow the same routine ourselves as this minimises the risks of disease.

Picking up your kitten

When the time comes to pick up your new kitten at 14 weeks old, we will ask you to read through and sign our homing agreement, some details of this can be seen below. You will receive a 4 generation pedigree certificate, 6 weeks free insurance with Pet Plan, a diet sheet, helpful information on caring for your kitten, the kittens vaccination card and money off kitten food vouchers. You will also receive a kiten pack to get you started with a weeks supply of kitten food and litter, a tray and a scoop, feeding bowls, a blanket and some toys.

Homing agreement

Here are some important conditions of a kitten sale from our homing agreement, this is a binding agreement which will need to be signed by owners when picking up their new baby. You will find that most reputable breeders have a homing agreement but the terms may differ.

All pet kittens are sold on the agreement that they will be neutered by 5-6 months old, this is to protect the future of the breed and stop people breeding from kittens which are sold as pets. The GCCF transfer of ownership slip will be sent to new owners when the certificate from your kitten pack has been signed and stamped by a vet to say the kitten has been neutered.

If illness occurs in the first 72 hours of the kitten leaving the breeder, the kitten can be returned and a full refund will be given, providing there is written proof of the illness from a veterinary surgeon. The breeder is not responsible for any illness occurring after this period. If illness occurs, veterinary advice must be taken and recommended treatment given.

Kittens are also sold on the agreement that If an owner wants or needs to

re-home the kitten/cat the owner will contact us before hand and we will do our best to find the kitten a loving home, we will pass on any payment that we receive for the kitten/cat.

If any of the conditions of the homing agreement are broken, we reserve the right to take the kitten back and to take legal advice.

Why are pedigree cats Expensive??

The average price for a Ragdoll kitten is £350-£400.

Kittens which are registered and come from reputable breeders are selectivey bred and raised by breeders who spend a lot of their time researching into the breed, the genetics, health, nutrition, feline husbandry, they spend endless amounts of money on buying breeding stock, vaccinations, food, litter, veterinary care, sanitization and health products, cat housing and kittening pens, there are lots of hidden costs!

Breeding stock is routinely tested for diseases and genetic defects to ensure healthy babies and they must ensure their kittens confirm closely to to the breed standard. Registered breeders usualy pay yearly membership fees to cat clubs and attends seminars for more breeding knowledge and shows to get certifications for their cats.

What difference does it make if a Ragdoll is registered?

If you're thinking of buying a cross bred kitten to save a few £ then you should think again. Kittens being GCCF registered serves as proof that they are genuine Ragdolls with recorded ancestry (a pedigree).

You shouldn't buy a kitten from someone claiming it to be pedigree if it isn't registered, this includes cross breeds, the person selling the kitten will probably be a back street breeder.

The term back street breeder or bsb usually describes people who breed animals regardless of physical, genetic, or emotional health. It is also used to describe unreputable commercial breeders in the process of careless breeding, all these people care about is your money.

Kittens bred commercially and carelessly are likely to…......

Develop disease

Have temperamental problems

Be difficult to housetrain

Find adjusting to family life hard

Suffer physical defects and have hereditary weaknesses

Think carefully before buying and do not buy a kitten because you feel sorry for it. If you buy from an unscrupulous breeder or dealer, you will be supporting their trade in misery. Every one you buy, another one takes it place!!
